No Condition // Mary J. Blige

I sat down, began to write, play this song, and in turn completely scrapped my original update which I'll get to soon. ;-) First, I just wanna say that if you haven’t purchased Mary J. Blige’s latest album, “My Life II: The Journey, Act I”, you should do so. “No Condition” is one of those tracks that you’ll have to play more than once or twice. To me the song sounds like a woman’s native chant to release and walk away from something that she loves but knows is unhealthy for her. In a dope melodic arrangement she is letting this individual know that number 1, she realizes that the current situation is a problem for her life and 2, she’s being honest with herself and exercising her right to choose what is best for her first. She is letting it be known that her own condition matters. Even deeper than that, I think the song represents a clear and direct declaration of freedom from not just a relationship or person, but perhaps it's a situation, a state of mind, or an unhealthy environment…things you might truly love but will ultimately have to let go.
